Hey, y’all! Thanks for coming back to join me for the second special Thanksgiving edition of Sunday Supper! This week we’re focusing on the dessert table and I’m sharing a host of my favorite pie recipes – any of which would be the perfect way to end your holiday meal!
Each week, I use this post to visit with y’all (like in the old days of blogging) – sharing a little bit of what happened in my world and giving you a little recipe inspiration for the week ahead. And since Thanksgiving is next week and quite the food holiday, I decided to switch things up and offer you some holiday inspiration these last few weeks to get you ready for the big day!
This week was spent tying up a bunch of loose ends with Chinaberry. We’re projecting a late January finish now and we’ve been needing to wrap up picking out a few lighting pieces, faucets, etc. Heather and I spent last Saturday at Southern Accent Architectural Antiques in Cullman, Alabama picking out some old wood that came from an 1800’s barn that will become fireplace mantels and decorative beams in the house. They will add some incredible character and charm to the spaces and we’re so excited to show you those in a few weeks. Right now, there’s just not much to see. But that’s going to change soon as we start sheetrock, trim, brick, etc. So, hang tight. I promise it’s coming!
This Monday, November 22nd, I’m teaming up with Donya from A Southern Soul to answer all your Thanksgiving cooking questions! So, join us! We’ll be live on Facebook at 4:00 pm EST and on Instagram at 6:30 pm EST. It’s going to be so much fun! If you want to make sure your question gets answered, be sure to find the posts on Facebook and Instagram announcing the live chat and post them there.
Again, this week is all about Thanksgiving sweets – more specifically… pies! So let’s get started…
Regardless of the name you give this pie, we just call it delicious! It's like the perfect blend of pecan pie and a warm chocolate chip cookie!
For me, this is a Thanksgiving must! The rich, fudgy filling and crunchy top are the perfect way to end your meal!
Despite the picture, the cream cheese layer of this pie starts on the bottom a magically moves to the top during baking. If you think that's cool, just wait until you taste it!
Southern Buttermilk Pie is a classic for a reason. It's creamy, sweet, and is perfect topped with a little whipped cream, fruit, or berries.
This Peanut Butter Cream Pie is new to the mix, but it has certainly one a good job quickly earning its place on the table. The peanut butter cookie crust, peanut butter cream filling, and peanut butter drizzle make sure you get tons of peanut butter flavor in very single bite!
One reader described this pie as "the best sweet potato pie I've ever had." Another said it was "the first sweet potato pie recipe that resembles my grandmaโs." And for me, that's all that needs to be said.
I've spent years getting this pie just the way I want it. And I think it's pretty perfect.
For something a little different, this No-Bake Peanut Butter Cup Pie is amazingly delicious. It's also crazy easy and can be made a few days in advance!
The creamy coconut filling in this coconut cream pie is the real star. I top this version with fresh whipped cream to add even more creamy flavor.
While this Old Fashioned Peanut Butter Meringue Pie might be a little more work than some others, it's worth every single bit of it. The creamy filling and peanut butter crumble are what set this one apart.

Stacey I’m new to your huge number of fans. I saw the name of your cookbook and just knew I would love it! I’m a Southern woman who loves to cook and I am crazy about your cookbook. I have a question though. What’s the Chinaberry House? I keep reading about it in your emails and just wanted to know. I’m your new biggest fan and I really appreciate all you do to promote Southern cooking. It’s the absolute best! Kindness should ALWAYS be required! ๐
Thank you so much, Scarlet! And welcome! Chinaberry is the new home and test kitchen, my family are building. You can catch up on the posts about it here: https://southernbite.com/category/chinaberry-house/
