Hey, friends! Welcome to a new edition of Sunday Supper! Each week I use this post to remind you of a few favorite recipes and share a little about what’s happened in our world in the past week!
Happy New Year, y’all! I hope y’all had a magnificent holiday season and are rip-roaring ready to make this year the best year ever! I sure have missed you! I took a few weeks off to spend the holidays with the family and squeeze in a little vacation before jumping into 2022, so you’ve not gotten Sunday Supper in a few weeks.
Over at the Chinaberry House things are moving right along! Walls are up, doors are in, cabinets have been installed, the exterior has been painted, interior trim is wrapping up, and paint is nearly finished inside, too! It’s all coming together so beautifully!
On the Southern Bite front, the new season of Simply Southern TV launched this week! I showed y’all just how crazy easy my Apple Scrunch dump cake really is! You can catch new episodes of Simply Southern each Wednesday at 3:00 central on RFD-TV. Check your local listings for the channel. You can find old episodes on their website, if you want to catch up.
For our first recipe this week, I’m sharing an oldie, but a goodie. My Quick and Flavorful Chicken Noodle Soup has a few special ingredients to help add tons of flavor without a lot of time and effort. And after the frigid temps a lot of us have seen over the past week, we need something to warm us up!
I’m not sure about y’all, but after the holidays, I’m always looking for things that are quick and easy and that’s just what these Cinnamon Sugar Biscuit Waffles are. Canned biscuits are cooked in a waffle iron and tossed with cinnamon sugar. They’re so simple, but so delicious an are a fun way to mix up the boring breakfast routine.
For dessert this week, I’m sharing my recipe for Vanilla Wafer Cake! I just love this dense, moist treat! Flour is replaced by crushed vanilla wafers cookies for a flavor that’s second to none!
And the recipe that caught my eye this week is the decadent-looking Most Amazing Strawberry Cake from The Stay at Home Chef. It’s not exactly strawberry season, but isn’t too far off and I just can’t wait to make this. I feel like I can almost taste it!
The soup looks so yummy! So glad you took some time off for family, vacation and some relaxation. It’s good for the soul. I can’t wait to see the Chinaberry House completed. I am so excited for you all. Thanks again for all the great recipes you share with us.
Thanks so much, Phyl! We’re excited to get it done and show it to y’all!

We are excited for you and your family and we appreciate being included in your adventure to your dream home. As usual – looking forward to each wonderful Southern recipe that you send us. So many are just like my Mother’s and so many are new and great additions to my library of recipes. Thank you.
From probably your greatest fan.
