Y’all! Seriously! These brownies are ridiculous! They’re so easy and SO good, we’ve been trying for two weeks to come up with a name that makes them sound as good as they are. But we failed. In a last ditch effort, I’ve decided to call them OMGeeee Brownies, because when you taste them, you’re going to say, “Oh my goodness!”
On a whim, Heather made these a few weeks ago as a way to dress up a regular ol’ brownie mix. We’ve made them 3 times since then. They are that good. Now, don’t discount this because it seems so simple. These are amazing. And SO easy!
Start with a regular ol’ box brownie mix. After experimenting with several different brands and types, this Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate mix is my favorite. You really want some that are kinda fudgey and I like that these have chocolate chips in them too.
Now, just make them according to the package instructions.
Take them out of the oven and pour the sweetened condensed milk over them while they are still warm. You can even poke some holes in them to get all the sweetened condensed milk down in there. Now, I know that we only use half of the can and you’re asking, “What do I do with the other half?” Well, I’m not sure what to tell you. I never endorse wasting anything, but honestly wasting the other half of the can is totally worth it just to be able to make these. And putting a whole can on these is just too much. Just pour the other half in a sealable container and pop it in the fridge and hopefully you’ll find something to do with it. You might just end up making another batch of these brownies once you taste them. (Just as a side note, those caramel and chocolate flavored sweetened condensed milks are AMAZING in this too!)
Then sprinkle the top with the chocolate chips. You can use as many as you want to cover the top. I like a lot, so I use about 3/4 cup. Now, just let them sit and cool completely. See! Easy peasy! Y’all enjoy!

Hi, I’m having a Christmas dessert party this Saturday. Do you think white chocolate chips and food dye mixed then topped with Christmas sprinkles on top would work? Does the topping set it stay spreadable?
This topping does set up pretty firmly.
These are great when the kids are wanting to bake or when wanting to just take box mix brownies to the next level.
Thanks Queeeeeeen!
So good!
Thanks so much!
Love this recipe. I’ve made it your way and loved them but also like spreading a spoon over the chocolate chips when they are all melted to make it more like a fudge frosting. So decadent!
Now that’s an idea!
Hello Stacey. Will the condensed milk be able to soak in properly if my brownies are already cooled completely?
It will soak in some but not as much as it would if the brownies were warm.
Thank you!
I made these today for an extra dessert for Christmas… they are extremely too rich & I feel that I wasted good brownies by putting the other stuff on top 🙄.
Oh well, hopefully others like them tomorrow but I am certain I won’t be making these again.
They certainly are rich, but I’ve never thought that the richness made them a waste. I guess everyone has different tastes. Sorry you didn’t enjoy them.
Making these for Christmas Eve. Hope I start a.new tradition.
Enjoy! Merry Christmas!
Can these be made the night before?
They certainly can!
If you have a dollar tree store near you they sell a smaller can of sweetened condensed milk or just make a double batch. I can’t wait to make them!
Great tip! Thanks, Nancy! I’ll check out the Dollar Tree!
Definitely making this, sounds fantastic.
But must these be refrigerated if any are left over? Technically sweetened condensed milk is a milk and since it isn’t baked as part of this recipe, just used as a topping, it would potentially go bad at some point. I might also be a bit concerned on a hot day in the sun. (I did Google and the consensus is to refrigerate SCM once opened.)
On the other hand I suspect these brownies would be eaten so fast it wouldn’t be an issue!
There’s some confusion about SCM. Some say that the sugar helps to extended the life of it. For me, I’ve never had a problem with it if they are eaten within a few days, but refrigeration is certainly the safer option.
I have just poured 1/2 of can of sweet and condensed milk on my brownies and covered that with semi sweet chocolate and white chocolate chips. Now we wait to taste.. I’ll let you know what the family thinks about these brownies.
Anxious to hear! 🙂
I am thinking about making these with the caramel condensed milk and then maybe some coconut before I put on the chocolate chips….. that should work right? I mean I cant imagine messing these babies up!
I think that sounds AMAZING!!!! Let me know how they turn out!
Just made these for an early Christmas tomorrow, but I’m not sure they turned out. The sweetened condensed milk slid down & pooled around the edges. Brownies had puffed up in the middle & weren’t flat. Not sure what I did wrong.
It’s odd to hear of a brownie mix that puffs up like that. It’s certainly the reason the milk ran down the edges. How did they taste?
I would make a double batch of brownies also, or else they are too thin in the pan, and use the entire can of condensed milk. Shouldn’t the brownies be baked After the milk and choc. chips is poured over the top? Seems that it all should be baked together to taste Done.
Do i use softened butter or melted butter in the recipe ?
You should use whatever the box instructions call for.
These should be against the law Stacey !!! Made them this morning, absolutely delicious , thank you for sharing that recipe !
Ha! I’m so glad you enjoyed them!!
Just came across this recipe….I used Duncan Hines California Walnut brownie mix; added 2 eggs and one individual single serving size cinnamon applesauce (did not add oil or water). Baked in 12×9 glass dish until toothpick came out clean (cake like). Poked holes and 1/2 can of the milk, one package of butterscotch chips on top. Chilled in fridge, cut and added magic shell chocolate drizzles on top. Super yummy!
Sounds delicious!!
Soooo good!!! Thanks for sharing!
Aren’t they good? We just love them!
Just wow! As I passed every picture on the post, I kept saying, “oh my goodness.” Brownies, sweetened condensed milk, chocolate chips, oh my.
Thanks for sharing this incredible recipe!
Ha! It’s decadent, but delicious!
Well, I”m sure the extra condensed milk calories sure are making these brownies irresistible!
Of course they are!! 🙂
I just made these and they are delicious!!! Can I freeze these so I don’t eat all of them?
Absolutely!
I made these, but with homemade brownies to fill a 9×13 inch cake pan. Also instead of chocolate chips on top, I use all t he Butterfingers my kids go while trick or treating and just crushed them on top. Awesome!
Way to make it your own! Sounds great, Lisa!
Ummmm…..OMG is right. These brownies were amazing!!! I took 2 batches to work, made with the caramel sweetened condensed milk. Everyone loved them, and everyone wanted the recipe. They were amazed at how easy they were to make. Thank you for posting this recipe!!!
LOL! I love to hear that, Angie! So glad everyone enjoyed them!
Make a really strong coffee and mix with condensed milk. Serve over ice for an incredible iced coffee…..coffee needs to be strong so the flavor doesn’t dilute with the ice.
Yum!!
Absolutely yummy brownies!!!! Love your blog!!! Keep ‘Em comin’!!!!!!
Thanks so much, Theresa! So glad you enjoyed the brownies!
You can mix the sweetened condensed milk 1:1 with your milk of choice to make coffee creamer. Love the recipe! THANK YOU!
You’re the second person to mention that. I’ve just GOT to try it!
My husband uses extra s.c. Milk in his morning coffee.
What a yummy idea!
Ermahgerd.
Hi Stacey,
This recipe is fantastic! However, my oldest ate the last one today and now the youngest is threatening run away.
LOL! This is, quite possibly, the best comment ever! You win the internet today! 🙂
As to the question of what to do with the other half can eagle brand milk, I make some tiny fudge tarts with peanut butter cookie dough. Where a lot of recipes stick a Hershey kiss in them when they come out of oven, I use a recipe that makes a fudge filling out of chocolate chips and a little eagle brand milk heated in the microwave. I think it’s a Pillsbury recipe.
Great idea!
I made these with the caramel sweetened condensed milk for a luncheon honoring our maintenance and operations workers. They were a hit! I went by during an early lunch to get a little piece, and they were already almost gone. Thanks for a great recipe!
So glad they turned out well for you and everyone enjoyed!
What size dish do I need for this recipe? I have never used the Ghirardelli brownie mix. Thanks
The box should specify. Most of the time it’s an 8×8.
Y’all know what I’m talking about when I say…Look out pms cravings!!
OMG:-)!!! I love recipes like this – very easy but very impressive. Thse sound wonderful. Not much better than brownies and sweetened condensed milk.
Exactly!! Enjoy!
I love your web site. The recipes are delicious. I have two of your cook books.
My problem is, in the past if I wanted to print one of you recipes off the net, it worked well. Now, since you changed the format some, I cannot get my printer
to print off you site. I am still printing off many other sites but something from
yours has changed. Can you help me? I do not know what is wrong!
I am looking forward to hearing from you.
Many thanks,
Sharon
I’m honestly not sure. I’ve not heard from anyone else having trouble. What happens when you click the print button?
I’ve heard of some who eat sweetened condensed milk with a spoon! Of course, I’ve only heard that. I’d never do it 🙂
Ha! I’ve heard that too, but I’m like you… I’ve only ever heard of it. Never done it myself… 🙂 {snickers}
Me..!
Just sitting here thinking of making these this evening and peanut butter chips or heath toffee chips came to mind. What a choice!!
Yes! So many options!
Added chopped pecans on top in place of more chips also Carmel condensed milk. Easy turtle brownies
Sounds delish!!
Whoa — these brownies look so good! I have a can of the caramel sweetened condensed milk in my cupboard, and will try it.
It’s SO good with the caramel!!
Those look quite decadent! Just so you know -you can freeze condensed milk for several weeks in an airtight container. Thaw in the fridge and give it a good stir when ready to use.
Thanks for That info! ☺️
Great suggestion! Thanks!
Lord have mercy! I’ll just have to power walk an extra 30 minutes, cause I am so trying this one tomorrow:) Thanks Stacey!
Ha! Good luck with that walk! (It’s totally worth it!)
I’m saving this recipe for sure. As far as the other half of the can, I agree with Debbie. Make two batches or use as creamer for coffee.
Sounds like a plan to me!
I just gained five pounds by staring at the picture. Do you think the brownies will travel well to a football tailgate party? Thanks for the recipe.
Yes! I think they’ll be perfect!
Hi Stacey!
I love this kind of recipe – so easy but so decadent and good! I’m thinking just double the recipe and use that whole can of milk, because it would definitely take that many for my bunch! Thanks for sharing…
Deb
Sweetened condensed milk is delicious in hot tea!
I bet!!
Love that idea! I bet they’ll go fast!
I am new to your site and this recipe is a grand introduction! Thank you for a great visit which will be repeated! You do good work!
Welcome, Ruth!! Thanks so much!
They look so amazing why waste the sweetened condensed milk!!! Why not just make a double batch!?
