These red velvet brownies are just about as good as they are easy.ย And for an over-the-top treat, just add some cream cheese icing to the top.
Ingredients
- 1 box red velvet cake mix (18.25 oz)
- 12 oz bag white chocolate chips
- small box vanilla instant pudding (3.9 oz)
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup chopped pecans
Instructions
- Combine ingredients in a large bowl and stir gently to combine.
- Spread mixture into a greased 9X13 baking dish. (I also added some whole pecans to the top to make them pretty.)
- Bake at 325 degrees F for 30 to 35 minutes or until set to your liking.ย (We like ours fudgey so we bake them for about 30 minutes.)ย Cool completely before cutting and serving.

So glad you enjoyed them!!

I had a box of red velvet cake mix that was going out of date and looked online for a recipe besides a cake to use it. I came across this recipe and it is great, made them and left out the nuts since my husband can’t have them and used chocolate chips and added extra. Thanks for the recipe!
Wonderful, Jeannie! So glad they turned out great for you!

I so hope these brownies turn out okay. I should have stuck with the receipe and not read some of the reviews about adding the extra water, which I did. After 30 minutes, they are still very running in the middle. Fingers crossed that they turn out okay :/
My fingers are crossed too! Let me know what happens. Good luck!

I can’t eat nuts! What can I use instead that would taste right?
Hi Ann! I would just leave out the pecans. I think they’d be fine without having to replace the pecans with anything.

Wow, I really wish that I hadn’t seen this. BIG trouble for the pregnant girl who is supposed to be eating healthy… YUM!
Uh oh! Well, I hope you and baby enjoy them anyway! : )

These are awesome. I did make a couple of changes. Didn’t have any vanilla pudding but did have chocolate which is what I used since I put coco in my red velvet cakes. I also increased the water to be 3/4 cup. Used chopped walnuts-1 1/2 cups in the batter with another 1/2 cup on top. After they cooled some I brushed a light coating of cream cheese glaze on the tops. Took these to play cards that night and didn’t bring any home. My other half told me to be sure to keep this recipe. He really liked them. Thanks for all the good recipes.
I’m SO glad y’all enjoyed them!

Made these yesterday and they were yummy! I did have a problem with mixing all the ingredients, was really dry and not enough liquid. Added more water ~ 1/2 cup for a total of 3/4 cup. Is the water amount in the recipe is correct?
Hi Zelda,
Sorry you had a little bit of trouble. The amount in the recipe is correct and it does make a very thick batter, but I’m sure there was no harm done by adding the additional water. I’m glad they turned out well and that you enjoyed them.

These are real beauties, Stacey!
Thanks, Jackie!
