Hey, y’all! Welcome back to another delicious edition of Sunday Supper! It’s my chance to visit with you each week to share a little of what happened in our world in the previous week and an opportunity to share a little recipe inspiration for the week ahead! Let’s get into it…
This week brought my friends from Simply Southern TV into the test kitchen to begin filming new cooking segments for the 2022 season. I wish there was a way that I could show you all the work that goes into one 3-minute segment. Trust me when I say A LOT! We filmed 12 segments with this week and had a blast. It’s so amazing to be able to do what you love! I can’t wait for y’all to see what all we did!
I can’t thank y’all enough for the prayers, messages, emails, and comments after Heather’s surgery last week. We definitely felt them! She is doing amazingly well and got through with very little pain. She’s been cleared to head back to work this coming week and is excited to get back to her patients.
The construction crew started wrapping and weatherproofing the house and test kitchen this week over at Chinaberry, so it’s starting to look more and more like a house!
One of the recipes we shot this week for Simply Southern is my Easy General Tso’s Chicken. Having had to smell it for the better part of a whole day and not be able to eat it (I can’t eat stuff like that when I’ve got my TV clothes on – I would certainly get something on my shirt. ๐), I’m definitely making it for supper one night this week. And for some reason, in my brain, broccoli always goes with it, so I’ve paired my Roasted Broccoli with it.
For dessert, I’m making my super delicious Brown Butter Rice Krispie Treats. These things are so good! The browned butter gives them a nutty flavor that I love and I’ve got a little secret to keep them gooey and marshmallow-y!
And y’all have to check out these Ginger Sandwich Cookies from Amanda at I Am Baker. I’m a sucker for any type of ginger cookie and these have a filling made with marshmallow fluff! How can that NOT be delicious??
Y’all have a great week!
We made this recipe for the next season of Simply Southern this past week and everyone was super impressed with how much flavor came out of such an easy dish! I think you'll like it just as well. We sure do!
This super simple broccoli is perfect served alongside the sweet and savory Asian inspired chicken dish. It's super easy, too!
Of all the flavors in the world, browned butter has to be one of my favorites. And these Brown Butter Rice Krispie Treats are get another way to enjoy that delicious flavor! These are also super gooey, which makes them amazing!
This recipe caught my eye this week...
Maybe it's me wishing for Fall and the cooler weather, but these Ginger Sandwich Cookies sure do look good! I mean, they have a marshmallow fluff filling! If you're not following Amanda at I Am Baker, you need to be! Her food is just as delicious as she is hilarious!

I can’t wait to try the Gen’l Tso’s Chicken. Though I think I will also try it with the easy fried rice recipe. Oh and with fall coming (on the calendar anyway — here in AL who knows when the temps will feel like fall!) I must try the Ginger cookies.
Thank you for all you are doing to make what seem like difficult dishes easy for us.
My pleasure! Thanks, Suze!!
