Hey, y’all! Welcome to this week’s Sunday Supper. It’s a weekly opportunity to share a few extra recipes that might inspire you for the upcoming week and a chance to share a little bit about what happened in our world the past week. Here we go…
We started the week with news that Heather had to have carpal tunnel and ulnar nerve transposition surgery. She’s been having trouble for a while and knew surgery would eventually have to happen; we just didn’t expect it to happen so quickly. Regardless, the stars quickly aligned for her to be able to have the surgery and take leave for the recovery, so we spent Friday taking care of that. She’s doing well, but of course, prayers are certainly appreciated.
Over at the Chinaberry House, framing continues and the roof is starting to take shape. They’ve even started framing the new test kitchen. I’m so ready to get back over there and give y’all an update via Instagram Stories, so stay tuned.
In other news, the amazing folks at Simply Southern have asked me to return for another season and we begin filming next week! We’ve got 12 episodes to shoot, so I’ll be mostly tied up with that, but will still be jumping on social media to say hi! I hope to also share a few Instagram Stories as we go through the week, so be sure you’re following me over there for that, too.
Since Heather will be home this week recovering, I’ve decided to make a few of her favorite dishes on Sunday so that we can have leftovers throughout the week. It also makes for much easier suppers as with the filming schedule, this week will be pretty busy!
I know whenever I’m feeling a little under the weather, comfort food is what I crave and it doesn’t get much more comforting that a big ol’ casserole dish filled with Chicken Spaghetti. And y’all, there’s a reason this is the most popular recipe on the site… it’s delicious! The recipe makes quite a bit, so it’s perfect for making a few meals off of.
I’m also going to whip up a jar of my Sweet and Tangy Mason Jar Salad Dressing to have in the fridge for salads to go along with it all week.
And when it comes to dessert, I’m going to make Heather’s absolute favorite – Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Pie. It only calls for a handful of ingredients and is peanut butter perfection. It’s rich, too, so a little slice goes a long way!
And y’all need to check out this amazing Berry Watermelon Fruit Salad from Stacey over at Southern Discourse! How beautiful is that thing??
As we look at the week ahead, I want to encourage you to be kind and to choose your words carefully. This past week, I found so many negative and rude comments on social media, that it just hurt my heart. For many folks, I feel like social media has slowly eroded the filter between their brains and their mouths and they don’t give much thought to the things they’re saying. Keep in mind that the person on the other side of that screen might be fighting a battle you know nothing about. A little kindness goes a long way. Let’s see the best in people. My rule of thumb is if I wouldn’t say it to that person’s face, I’m not going to say it on a keyboard either. It all boils down to kindness.
Y’all have a great week!
This Ultimate Chicken Spaghetti is gooey, cheesy, creamy pasta perfection. It's the stick-to-your-ribs kind of food that just wraps you up in a big ol' hug! My spin on the classic recipe adds in a little cream cheese for even more creaminess!
It's sometimes hard to pick the right side for chicken spaghetti, but salad is always a safe bet. My Sweet and Tangy Mason Jar Salad Dressing is great on spring mix with some sliced apples, a few toasted pecans, and a little blue cheese!
This Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Pie has got to be one of Heather's most favorite desserts. Ever since she had it on vacation at Original Oyster House in Gulf Shores, it's been on the top of her list. It's also crazy easy!
Here's a recipe that caught my eye this week...
Would you just look at this fruit salad? With all those beautiful colors, how could your mouth not be set to drooling?? Stacey from Southern Discourse is even sharing her tips for picking out the best watermelon!

Hi Stacey! I don’t even know (or remember;) how I found your site! I am so glad I did! You are like a ray of sunshine in this darkness we are seeing in the world we live in. And yes I again..BE KIND!
I will be praying for Heather to have a speedy recovery! And thank you for taking the time to do this blog!
Blessings to you and yours!!!
Oh, I have already tried one of your recipes the oatmeal with dried cranberries! You got my husbands’ thumbs up!

Thank you so much, Darlene! This put a big smile on my face!

I completely agree with your philosophy of if you can’t say it to their face, don’t type it. My great grandmother taught me “if you can’t find something nice to say, then don’t say anything at all”.
Stacey
She was a smart lady!! Thanks, Vivian!
Charleen
Stacy, these recipies sound and look delicious. I have saved them all to my home screen . Excited for all the good things happening in your lives.,,I know surgery doesn’t sound like it belongs in the last sentence, but the Lord is and will be with your family and he will guide you. I am in agreement with you concerning social media. My grand ma always told us “if you can’t say something nice, don’t say it at all”. Will be checking out rfdtv ,one of the best channels on the air. God Bless Y’all.
Stacey
Thank you so much, Charlene! Heather’s recovery has been easier than we expected – He has certainly been with us.
Traci
Prayers for you and Heather! And I do agree that social media has become terribly ugly. It makes me sad for those who seem to be in competition to say the worst things.
Stacey
Thanks, Traci!!
