A few weeks back I told you about the Ball Park Park’s Finest attempt at breaking the Guinness World Record for Longest Barbecue Marathon.ย You can actually watch the contest winners live right now as they cook for more than 38 hours!ย One of the participants, Susie, has her own blog at HeyGrillHey.com.

Speaking of grilling, cooking hot dogs over an open flame has always been my favorite way to prepare them.
Here are some other great tips from Ball Park when preparing your hot dogs…
Spray It Before You Lay It: Before you turn on the grill and lay your hot dogs down, spray the grill with vegetable oil or cooking spray to ensure the food doesnโt stick to the grates as itโs cooked. Sticky grates are your enemy.
Dress the Dog, Not the Bun: Put hot dog toppings on top of the hot dog. This oneโs pretty simple, right?
Gimme That Smoky Flavor: If you prefer your grilled meats to have a smoky taste, keep the grill covered while cooking.Donโt Let the Juice Loose: Use tongs rather than a fork to gently turn the franks so you lose minimal juice.
Recommended Grilling Tools
We recommend accessories made with heavy-duty forged stainless steel and hardwoods.
For cleaning the BBQ, use a grill brush. It improves the next meal’s taste and prevents flare-ups.
To protect your hands and arms from hot grills and flames, wear heavy-duty grilling gloves.
Not only will a sturdy apron protect your clothing, but it can help you look the part even if youโre clueless.
Use a dry chemical fire extinguisher (rated Class A or B) to take care of loose charcoal, grease flare-ups, flammable liquids, paper, wood and textiles.

And when it comes to sides, I love the classics like potato salad and baked beans.ย What do you like with your hot dogs?ย Here are a few of my favorite Southern Bite Recipes that go perfectly with Ball Park Park’s Finest Hot Dogs!
