It’s time for the kiddos to head back to school and that means time for parents to start packing those lunches. I grew up taking my lunch nearly every single day in school – except for maybe pizza days. These days Pinterest has helped to create some pretty lofty expectations for children’s lunches. From elaborate bento boxes to sandwiches made into your favorite cartoon character. But wholesome, delicious lunches don’t have to be so difficult.
At our house, school lunches mean peanut butter and jelly. It’s a pretty simple concept. Nature’s Own Butterbread, peanut butter, and jelly. We use a technique that my Mom taught me years ago. Spreading peanut butter on both sides of the bread keeps the jelly from making the bread soggy – plus it means more peanut butter… and who doesn’t want that?? Plus there’s no pulling out that soggy sandwich. 🙂
We use Nature’s Own because it has no artificial preservatives, colors, or flavors. And with varieties like Honey Wheat, Butterbread, and 100% Whole Wheat, they have something everyone in your family will love.
We also like to mix things up sometimes by making Peanut Butter and Jelly Roll-ups! They’re super simple…
All you do is take a rolling pin and roll a piece of bread flat.
Then spread a thin layer of peanut butter and jelly…
Then roll them up. It’s as simple as that and offers a different texture than the class pb&j sandwich.
