Everyone mark your calendar for the 34th Annual Peanut Festival in Suffolk, Virginia, October 6th-9th. Their motto is “We’re Nutty about Family & Friends” so this is certainly an event for everyone! Four days of fun include concerts, petting zoo, amusement rides, contests and competitions (including jalapeno eating contest, peanut butter sculpture contest and peanut shelling contest), demolition derby, truck and tractor pull, motorcycle rally, parade and a fireworks extravaganza. Texas is also celebrating peanuts with the 67th Annual Peanut Festival held in Floresville October 4th & 6th-9th. This event is for the whole family so come enjoy food, fun, great activities and entertainment. Bring the kids to delight in the Kiddie Parade, Kids Karaoke, Kid Stage Acts, pony rides, petting zoo and the Goober Games (sack races, peanut pond, face painting, peanut toss, fun bounce, musical peanut and much more). And everyone can enjoy carnival rides, vendor booths, parades, gun fighters, snake handlers, Chili and Menudo Cookoffs and The Ranch Rodeo. All that fun is sure to make you hungry but don’t worry this festival has it all from pizza to gorditas and of course plenty of peanuts and peanut products like peanut brittle, homemade peanut butter, peanut cookies, roasted peanuts, pies, ice cream – just to name a few! Don’t worry the peanut goodness isn’t over yet! We still have to head on down to Alabama for the National Peanut Festival. The National Peanut Festival is the nation’s largest peanut festival held in Dothan, the heart of peanut country. The Dothan area produces more than 65% of all the peanuts produced in the United States so be assured this event will have plenty of peanut offerings as well as festivities for the whole family including amusement rides, animal acts, agricultural displays, live music concerts, beauty pageants, arts & crafts displays, contests, food and a two-hour parade.
